Biruni University 2023 Faculty Of Medicine “White Coat Ceremony” Was Held

Faculty of Medicine Biruni University 2023-2024 academic year "White Coat Wearing" ceremony was held on 30 October at 10:00. The ceremony started with the presentation of Corporate Communication Director Serpil BÖCEK and continued with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem. After the screening of the introductory film about our university and campus, Prof. Dr. Dilek Sema ARICI, Dean of Biruni University Faculty of Medicine, took the stage to make her opening speech. In her speech, she said, "Welcome to the 'White Apron Wearing' ceremony for the 2023-2024 academic year. This year is of particular importance for those who are here. Because this year is the 100th anniversary of our republic." Arıcı started her speech by expressing the rights and opportunities that the Republic of Turkey has given us. Arıcı underlined the value given to women by the understanding of the republic by saying, "If it were not for the republic, I would not be in front of you as a woman, I would not be a dean, maybe I would not even be a doctor. Stating that medicine is important not only as a profession but also in every aspect, she said, "We will train exemplary physicians in every aspect. Most importantly, we will raise physicians who are lifelong learners." She concluded her words as "We are here for you, I expect you to be good doctors for the republic." Continuing her presentation, Serpil BÖCEK said, "You, our esteemed parents, your children are entrusted to our faculty members who are the best in their fields. Do not worry." and also thanked the families of the doctor candidates. At the end of the ceremony, a video was presented to the guests. In this video, Dr. Başak Kurtuldu, one of the 2023 graduates of Biruni University Faculty of Medicine, started her duty as a doctor, shared a meaningful message dedicated to our Rector Prof. Dr. Adnan Yüksel, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Dilek Sema Arıcı and faculty members.    

    Afterwards, Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Adnan Yüksel was invited to the stage to make his speech. Rector Yüksel said, "I greet you all with love and respect, happy 100th anniversary of the establishment of our republic." Rector Yüksel continued his speech by saying that we should give the necessary importance to the work we do and said, "If we do our job like everyone else, we will be like everyone else, but if we add spirit to our work, only then we will be successful." Stating that it is difficult to study at the Faculty of Medicine, but the fruits of these difficulties will be taken after graduation, he underlined what a sacred profession it is. Rector Yüksel said that if you do not add energy and excitement to the work you do, you cannot get enough efficiency from that work, and continued his speech by saying "The best of people are the ones who does good deeds to other people". Continuing his speech by giving advice to the doctor candidates, Rector Yüksel said, "First of all, you will answer the question of who I am well. You will answer the questions asked before everyone else so that you can make a difference. Your communication in front of the patient will always be very good. Never forget this." he said. Wishing the medical students a successful academic year, he concluded his speech with the words "I wish you to continue by taking the wind of discipline behind you." The ceremony ended with presenting the white aprons by Rector Prof. Dr. Adnan YÜKSEL, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Dilek Sema ARICI, vice-rectors and faculty members of Biruni University Faculty of Medicine in the 2023-2024 academic year.
