23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day Ceremony

    The Child Development and Education Community held the "23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day Ceremony" on 19 April 2023 at Biruni Conference Hall. The ceremony, which was attended by a large number of academics, administrative staff and students, started with a minute of silence and then the National Anthem was sung in memory of all our martyrs, especially the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Then, Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Adnan ÖMERUSTAOĞLU made a speech on the meaning and importance of the day. ÖMERUSTAOĞLU; "Atatürk entrusted our state, which was established after difficult struggles, to children. For this reason, their education is more important than anything else. At the same time, today we celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the establishment of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and I congratulate you all on 23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day." The programme continued with poems performed by Zeynep Çelik, Hediye Öncel and İrem Özgül from the Faculty of Health Sciences Child Development students. Afterwards, Damla Pektaş, Assistant Professor of Child Development Department of Faculty of Health Sciences, and Uğur Gökmen, Lecturer of Faculty of Health Sciences, gave information about the physical and mental problems faced by children living in the earthquake zone.
