Our University's 2023-2024 Academic Year Opening Ceremony was Held at its New Campus

Biruni University 2023-2024 academic year opening ceremony was held on Monday, October 16, at its new campus. The ceremony, which started with the presentations of the Head of English Language Teaching Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Manolya Sağlam and Corporate Communications Director Serpil Böcek, continued with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. A promotional film about our university and campus was shown. Then, a short screening of the documentary of Turkish-Islamic scholar Abu Reyhan al-Biruni, which is the source of the name of our university, was made. Zeytinburnu Municipality Mayor Ömer ARISOY, Zeytinburnu District National Education Director İsmail ÇETİNKAYA, Bakırköy District National Education Director Fatih ÇEPNİ, the press, business community, faculty members and students attended to the ceremony.

The opening speeches were started by Zeytinburnu Municipality Mayor Ömer ARISOY and our university’s Rector Prof. Dr. Adnan YÜKSEL.

Zeytinburnu Municipality Mayor ARISOY started his speech by expressing his satisfaction to be at Biruni University for the opening of the 2023-2024 Academic Year. He said “The new campus of Biruni University, the distinguished university of our district, is truly magnificent. We had the opportunity to tour the campus. Biruni University is making a great start towards new goals with its libraries, social areas and laboratories. Biruni University has been achieving great success since the first day and it was opened under the leadership of its esteemed Rector Adnan Yüksel".

Rector YÜKSEL said “University does not only provide a profession, it also teaches how to experience the life correctly”.

Biruni University Rector Prof. Dr. Adnan Yüksel started his opening speech by wishing the new academic year to be successful, and continued his words by giving important advice to the students. Rector Yüksel said, “The university is a place to see where you look. If you can't see what you're looking at, it means you've had wasted years". He touched upon the importance of awareness. Moreover, Rector Yüksel said, “A person who does not do his job with love only carries a dead soul in his body. We must do our job with love and dedication. It should not be forgotten that the best of people is the one who serves humanity”. In his words, he stated that the service to be provided to people and humanity is of great importance in every aspect. Furthermore, he added to his speech by saying "People's opinions and jurisprudence are diverse, and the prosperity of the world depends on the diversity of these views". He underlined that there are individuals with many different ideas among people and that no one should be viewed differently for this reason. The future will be shaped by hard-working people who left their rest today”. He continued his speech by explaining the importance of working and how laziness is a negative behavior. He concluded his words by wishing the students to continue with a successful education life, studying hard and having the discipline behind them. The opening ceremony of the Vocational School Academic Year took place at 13:00 and education started.

Vice Rector Çelik said “We will build the Second Century of the Republic step by step.

Then, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma ÇELİK came on the stage to make her speech. She said “Welcome all of you to our opening ceremony and our new campus”. She started her speech by paying attention  to the 100th Anniversary of Turkish Republic and its importance. Çelik said, "We will build Turkey's Second Century together step by step". Shee said and finished her words by wishing a successful year for everyone. After taking photos with the Rectorate delegation, the opening ceremony of Biruni University 2023-2024 academic year was ended.
